A goldfish caught in France weighs as much as two dogs — but it’s still not the biggest in the area
If fairy tales are to be believed, a goldfish can grant three wishes. What about when it’s huge and heavy? That’s what you can ask a lucky (and strong) angler from the UK.
Anglers like to brag about their catches. Until they show their catches in photos, some stories are hard to believe. This problem was not faced by British fisherman Andy Hackett. The carp he caught barely fit in the frame.
How much does a Champagne goldfish weigh?
Andy Hackett caught a unique fish in BlueWater Lakes, a fishery located in French Champagne. The colossal carp has an intense orange color, which made it easy to spot under the surface of the water. Catching the fish, however, was already quite a challenge. As it turned out, the golden fish weighed as much as 30 kilograms. The animal gave way in the fight with the man only after 25 minutes. The fishery’s staff claims that this is the second largest fish of this species ever caught.
At the BlueWater Lakes fishery, anglers can test themselves by catching fish weighing more than 20 kilograms. The heaviest specimens weigh up to 40 kilograms.
