Physical activity is something evolution has prepared us for. So, it’s no wonder it has a beneficial impact on the body. Regular exercise prolongs life (especially for women), improves heart and brain function, and even enhances sleep quality.

However, these beneficial changes mainly stem from how exertion affects the biochemistry of our cells. This means it’s possible to “trick” our bodies. You just need to provide it with a substance that mimics the changes that occur after physical activity. This idea is behind the concept of a pill instead of exercise.

There are many ways to achieve this. However, the question arises whether a pill instead of physical exercise is truly a good solution in times when our activity levels are declining. Few people today actually reach even the minimum recommended number of steps advised by the WHO, which is 10,000 steps per day.
