An ancient temple has been found in Egypt, where unknown rituals were performed!
Archaeologists say the temple was associated with the falcon cult. It dates back to Hellenistic-Roman times. Researchers believe it may have belonged to one of the nomadic Nubian tribes that invaded Egypt under the Roman Empire from the late first century.
A group of archaeologists led by Joan Oller Guzmán, a professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, conducted excavations at the ancient city of Berenike, in southeastern Egypt on the Red Sea. The town was founded in the 3rd century BC by Pharaoh Ptolemy II and named after his mother, Berenice.
An ancient temple of falcon worship found
In ancient Egyptian times there was a port called Berenike Troglodytica, which was used for transshipment of African elephants. The city was formerly a strategic center of international trade between the country of the pharaohs and the east coast of Africa, India and ancient Arabia.
In the pages of the scientific journal American Journal of Archaeology, archaeologists reported that in the so-called Northern Complex of the ancient port of Berenike, they discovered the remains of a temple that is associated with the cult of the falcon.
