Bridge on the River Kwai — an authentic story
When the war film “Bridge on the River Kwai”, directed by David Lean, was released in 1957, only 15 years had passed since the events alluded to in the plot. The film was an adaptation of a novel by French writer Pierre Boulle, who was an eyewitness to the tragedy of World War II in Southeast Asia.
