Clearview AI is a venture that has kept many lawyers up at night. The creators broke many existing laws by collecting a database of faces. It turns out that the program, condemned by the US and the European Union, will work in Ukraine.
Controversial program scorned and rejected
The very name Clearview AI makes us shiver. The effectiveness of this system of face recognition and identification of people according to official data reaches 99.6 percent. The software was created to verify the identity of, among others, bank customers.
In the database there are more than 3 billion people who will be recognized by artificial intelligence without any problem. The problem arose moments after the announcement of the astonishing results that the program gives. The point is that the mentioned people did not provide the photos voluntarily — the company stole them from social media.
A serious violation of RODO has drawn condemnation from the French government and beyond. After analyzing the breach of European law, the French ordered Clearview AI to delete a database relating to millions of individual selfies.
