Virgil, or rather Publius Virgilius Maro, is one of the most important poets of Roman times. His texts are still interpreted, among others, on the boards of theaters around the world. The writer, born on October 15, 70 BC, is the author of such works as the “Aeneid,” “Georgics” and “Bucolics.” His texts had a huge impact on European culture and literature. That is why he was considered a bard and even a prophet for hundreds of years.
An ancient amphora that hid secret words has been discovered
It turns out that we may not realize how popular Virgil was in ancient times. Archaeologists already knew that some of the lines of the writer’s poems were used to teach children to read. They were usually written down on wooden tablets or papyrus. However, the latest discovery is all the more unique because sentences from Virgil’s poem were discovered on an amphora found in Spain.
