From Sumeria to the Stars: The Enigmatic Taurus Constellation

The Taurus constellation was described by Ptolemy in the 2nd century CE. In ancient Greece, it symbolized the highest of all gods — Zeus. Besides the Greeks, it was also observed by the Sumerians and Egyptians. How to find this constellation in the sky? What myths are associated with the Taurus constellation? The zodiacal belt consists of twelve constellations. There is no doubt that one of the most interesting constellations is Taurus, not only because of the large number of stars that can be observed with the naked eye. In the area of this constellation, there are many incredible objects, including the famous Pleiades, also known as the Seven Sisters — one of the most beautiful open star clusters.

Where is the Taurus constellation in the sky?

The Taurus constellation is located near the celestial equator in the northern sky. The ecliptic line intersects Taurus between the Pleiades cluster and the stars forming the visual head, where the Hyades formation is located. Taurus is situated between Gemini and Aries and also borders the constellations Auriga, Perseus, Cetus, Eridanus, and Orion.
