How Your Dog Hears You While Sleeping! In humans, it’s similar.
Dogs’ brains register and process sounds not only when they are active, walking, playing, or eating. EEG studies have shown that even during sleep, dogs react to various vocalizations.
Every pet owner knows this: dogs are very smart and alert animals. They observe us and listen to us. They can recognize emotions in both humans and other dogs and react to them in a complex manner.
How to communicate with them even better? Dogs’ brains are tuned to a specific way women speak. When women address infants, they use a higher tone, variable intonation, emphasize, and repeat key phrases. Hungarian scientists have shown that such communication is also best for dogs.
Thirteen canine volunteers were examined
Dogs’ sensitivity to various vocalizations — sounds made by different species — is even greater than previously thought. Researchers from the Department of Ethology at Loránd Eötvös University (the same university where they analyzed how dogs react to women’s voices) have just proven that even when our four-legged friend is asleep, their hearing doesn’t rest. According to a study published in the scientific journal “Scientific Reports,” dogs’ brains respond in a specific way to different sounds that reach the animal during sleep.
