Murder is somehow inscribed in the human species. According to the Old Testament, already the son of the first humans, Adam and Eve, was to commit murder. In Genesis, Cain kills his younger brother Abel, for which he is later punished. However, there is archaeological evidence that primitive people murdered each other as early as the Paleolithic period. What were the motives behind these ancient killings? Probably a struggle for dominance in the group or quarrels over food.

Why was a medieval man brutally murdered?

Forensic science is a science that leads to the identification and detection of pathological social phenomena. Researchers who work in this field try to find correlations and reasons why people choose to commit illegal acts. Although the origins of forensic science can be traced back to the 19th century, crimes have been committed since prehistoric times, and uncovering motives and contexts from the past help to better understand past times.
