Is this the world’s largest amphibian? A giant toad that weighs almost 3 kg has been found in Australia
A toad the size of a soccer and weighing 2.7 kg has caused a sensation. However, it is still far short of the record holders in the amphibian world.
Native to South America, the giant toad, or aga (Rhinella marina) — as its name suggests — reaches a large size. Its body length is usually up to 26 cm, while its weight is up to 2.5 kg. However, specimens of this size are rare. The largest individual found so far weighed 2.65 kg. Its body length was 38 cm.
Now that record may be broken. Wildlife rangers at Conway National Park in Australia found an unusually large toad next to the Conway Circuit trail. — “We named it Toadzilla, or Toad-Godzilla,” says ranger Kylee Gray.

This particular individual weighed as much as 3.7 kilograms. It was six times larger than the average toad.
