Meet the Fish with Human-Like Teeth: Nature’s Bizarre Creation
The seas and oceans are home to many extraordinary creatures, and without a doubt, the sheepshead fish is one of them. This fish has teeth that look remarkably like human teeth. What characterizes this unusual species? Where does it live and what does it eat?
It’s worth mentioning that the ocean depths hide species that look like creatures from a horror movie. One such species is the anglerfish, but even this monster doesn’t appear as extraordinary as the fish with “human” teeth that lives in much shallower waters.
What is the Sheepshead Fish?
The fish in question is Archosargus probatocephalus, known as the sheepshead fish or convict fish. This name refers to a species of marine fish in the family Sparidae, which belongs to the order Perciformes.
Like many other sparid fish, the sheepshead fish exhibits hermaphroditism. Young individuals of this species have both female and male glands, and adult fish often undergo a change of sex.
