For a long time, scholars thought that civilization on the Indian subcontinent began to take shape only in 1250 BC, when Assyrian immigrants from the area of Central Asia and Persia arrived in the area. Today, it is already known that the time when the Indus Valley civilization arose was underestimated by about 1,500 years, and the circumstances under which it took shape were quite different. When was the Harappa Culture formed? What did the Harappans achieve and why did they fall? These and other questions are answered below.

The Indus Valley civilization is listed among the oldest in the world, right next to the cultural circles of Egypt and Mesopotamia. The great people of the Indian subcontinent remained completely forgotten for a long time. This is largely due to the peculiar cultural conditions prevailing in the area.

According to their tradition, Indians recognize that the origins of their culture were written down in the ancient hymns of the Rigveda, which do not mention the Harappans. It should also be noted that the rich literature of the Indian peninsula lacks reliable historical works. As a result, we learned about one of the greatest ancient civilizations late. And today there are still many gaps in our knowledge of it.
