The Hittites: Fierce Warriors and Technological Pioneers Lost in Time
The Hittites disappeared into the darkness of history for a long time, and only translated Egyptian texts from Amarna brought back the memory of their empire. In its heyday, their country was one of the major powers in the eastern Mediterranean. This makes it all the more surprising that the modern world heard about them only in the 19th century. Who were the Hittites?
They managed to create a powerful empire, and by producing advanced iron objects, back in the Bronze Age, they began to enter the time that was yet to come. They had a powerful, well-trained army and advanced weapons. They concluded the first peace treaty we know of. Here is the briefest characterization of the Hittites — a people who only discovered their secrets from researchers in the 19th century.
Who were the Hittites?
Speaking of the Hittites, what you have in mind is an ancient people of Indo-European origin. From 2000 BC they inhabited the territory of Anatolia, but to this day it is not known where they came from. The Hittite tribes presumably set out from areas north of the Caucasus, although it is worth mentioning that this is not the only thesis on the subject. Some believe that they may have arrived in Asia Minor through the straits of the Sea of Marmara.
