What is the largest aircraft in the world? It is impossible to name one, or even to propose a TOP 3, because many aircraft differ in type, purpose, details or type of propulsion. The types of flying machines are indeed numerous.
When man first saw birds, he probably thought: what would it be like to fly? However, over the millennia, technological development did not allow to create a machine that would lift man into the sky.
Who invented the airplane?
During the Renaissance, the first abstract designs of something like an airplane appeared, for which the prominent artist and inventor Leonardo da Vinci was responsible. Among other things, the Italian is credited with inventing the concept of a helicopter or ornithopter, a device resembling today’s hang glider.
Of course, Leonardo’s ideas were never realized, and scientists to this day argue whether the devices could even work. It wasn’t until the mid-19th century that German Otto Lillienthal proved that a glider could get a person into the air. Since then, strenuous work began on a machine that would make it possible not only to lift, but also to keep people in the air for long periods of time.
